Trader resigns to take over North Carolina Wesleyan program

GREENVILLE, Pa. (August 24, 2009) – Thiel College head women's basketball coach Artina J. Trader will resign her position on August 31 to accept the head job at North Carolina Wesleyan College, her alma mater.
“We are sad to see Artina leave, but wish her the best,” said Director of Athletics, Jack Leipheimer.  “I think she is a fine coach, and the opportunity to return to her alma mater was one she couldn't pass up.”
Trader, who also served as the Senior Woman Administrator in the Thiel Department of Athletics, recently completed her fifth season with the Tomcat hoops squad. Last season her team advanced to the Presidents' Athletic Conference for the second time in her tenure and recorded 11 wins – a career-high.
“It's bittersweet for me to leave Thiel because it's been my home for the past five years,” said Trader. “The Thiel community has treated me like family and I am thankful to have had my first head coaching job here.”
A national search to select Trader's replacement will commence immediately.
