GREENVILLE, Pa. – Thiel College seniors Chris Dunham (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Linesville) and Eric Boylan (McKees Rocks, Pa./Sto Rox) have been named to D3baseball.com's 2009 Preseason All-America team, it was announced recently. Dunham was selected to the organization's first team, while Boylan drew second team honors.
A season ago, Dunham set a new single-season standard for the Tomcats in home runs, with 15, while batting .411 in 43 starts. He also finished with 14 doubles and tied, Boylanwith a single-season best 63 RBI. Dunham was named to the all-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) First Team and advanced to the ABCA national ballot after earning all-ABCA Mideast Region First Team honors.
In 2008, the two were named D3baseball.com first team All-Americans after the Tomcats finished with a 29-15 overall mark and advanced to the conference championships for the second-straight season. Dunham also received an ABCA/Rawlings first team All-America nod.
No. 21 Thiel opens its 2009 season on February 28, when it faces Muhlenburg in the RussMat Central Florida Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla.
