WOOSTER, Ohio – Junior guard
Nick Sefscik (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler) led Thiel College in scoring for the second game in a row, but it wasn't enough for the Tomcats to pull out a win against Kean University in the second round of the “Mose” Hole/Wooster Kiwanis Classic at the College of Wooster on Tuesday. The 76-57 setback closed the book on an 0-5 December for the Thiel men's basketball squad.
Sefscik, who scored 21 on Monday, tallied a game-high-tying 19 points in the contest, earning him a spot on the all-tournament team.
Jonathan Jones also scored 19 to lead the Cougars.
Kean's domination of the boards played no small role in the win, with the Cougars compiling a significant 41-25 advantage in rebounds, including 17 on the offensive glass. Kean registered 15 second-chance points in the contest.
Senior forward
Keebo Dowe (Martinsburg, W. Va./Edison Twp.) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
The loss was the seventh in a row for Thiel, which fell to 1-9 on the season.
The Tomcats return to action – and league play – on Jan. 3 when they visit Bethany College.
