WOOSTER, Ohio – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost its first post-Christmas contest Monday night, falling to the College of Wooster, 82-63, in the first round of the “Mose” Hole/Wooster Kiwanis Classic.
With the loss, Thiel fell to 1-8 on the season, while Wooster improved 6-4.
Junior
Nick Sefscik (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler) paced the Tomcats, tossing in a game-high 21 points. Senior
Keebo Dowe (Martinsburg, W. Va./ Edison Twp.) was the only other Thiel player to score in double figures, with 15.
The Fighting Scots, however, converted 23 Thiel turnovers into 26 points to cruise to the win.
Drew Sawyer led Wooster with 18 points. Three Scots earned double-digit scoring totals on the evening.
The Tomcats did manage to win the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Wooster 32- 29. Sophomore forward
Alan George (Brunswick, Ohio/St. Edward) led both teams with six rebounds.
Thiel returns to action on Tuesday for the second round of the 46th Annual “Mose” Hole Classic vs. Kean at 5:30 p.m.
