Since football was first introduced on the Thiel campus in 1892, the 1941 team was the first to go undefeated and was one touchdown away from also being unscored upon. The touchdown came in the fifth game against a tough Ithaca team. Not to be outdone by the defense, the offense of 1941 also turned in a good mark. Thiel ran up an average of 21 points per game against its seven foes. Odd as it may seem, this was a young team. Unfortunately, World War II caused the college to suspend football due to a lack of manpower and what might have been the Tomcats’ greatest grid era was lost.
