Steve Minton was a four-time All-PAC selection at running back including a First Team nod in 2005 and Second Team accolades in 2004 and 2006. Minton was the driving force on the 2005 team, which went 10-0 in the regular season, won the PAC title and was the first team in program history to qualify for the NCAA Division III playoffs, host a playoff game and win a playoff game.

A native of Cranberry Township, Pa., and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School, Minton is among the best running backs in Thiel history. He is the program leader in rushing attempts (645) and points scored (216), and he ranks tied for first in rushing touchdowns (35). Minton held the career rushing yards record (2,970) for nearly a decade before quarterback Ryan Radke set a new mark (3,004) in 2016.

Minton’s best statistical season was in 2005 when he ran for 1,066 yards on 230 carriers. He scored 114 points in 2005 on 19 rushing touchdowns, both of which are single-season program records. Minton went on to earn All-America Honorable Mention recognition by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette, as well as First Team All-South Region accolades. He was also named to the D3football.com All-South Region Second Team.
