Mark Fleischer lettered four years in basketball. Throughout his collegiate athletic career, he earned a reputation for hard work, determination and excellence. On the hardwood, his talents were unmatched. At his time of induction, he held the career for most rebounds (1,019) as well as most field goals and most points scored in a season. At the end of his career, he had a total of 1,345 points and 243 free throws.

Fleischer was named All-OAC and All-Lutheran for two years. During the 1972-73 season, his 310 point total from the field gave him a 22.1 game average and a second-place ranking in the conference standings. He set a then-conference season rebounding record with 224 for a 16 per game average. He also ranked third in field goals, hitting 133 of 248 for a .563 percentage. In addition to basketball, Fleischer was also a two-year member of the track team.
