Lloyd Riley’s basketball career as a center was a true success story. Famous for his “fake shot” under the hoop, he previously held the record for most points scored in one game (40 points against Geneva). He completed his last season (1953-54) with a total of 291 points. He scored his points on 77 free throws and 107 field goals. He scored a total of 944 points over his career. Riley was named Player of the Week by Pittsburgh sports writers during the 1950-51 season and was co-captain of the basketball team for two years.
