George Sterner was a four-year letter winner in football and baseball. He was named an Honorable Mention All-Lutheran selection in 1973. In 1974 he was named to the All-PAC First Team and the All-Lutheran Second Team and he was an Associated Press All-Pennsylvania Honorable Mention selection. Following his senior season, Sterner was named to the AP All-Pennsylvania Second Team and was an All-Lutheran Honorable Mention. He was a two-time First Team All-PAC selection and was named to the AACBC All-District First Team in 1976.
