Floyd “Huck” Christman stayed in his hometown of Greenville for his college education. With that decision Thiel College acquired one of its finest athletes.
Huck immediately won a halfback position on the football team, a starting guard position on the basketball team and a third baseman job on the baseball team. During his first two years he established himself as a fierce competitor in all sports and was respected by the other colleges in the Tri-State Area.
He helped lead the 1921 football team to a 5-3-1 record and the 1922 team to       a 6-4 season. During the 1923 football season he was captain of the Thiel eleven. He and his teammates posted a 6-2-1 record. In a 24-3 rout of Grove City College, Huck scored three touchdowns on an intercepted pass, an end run and a plunge up the middle. Throughout the nine game schedules he established himself as one of the finest halfbacks in the Tri-State Area. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was named to the All-Tri-State Team.
In 1924, he captained the Tomcat team which ended the year 3-5-1. Injuries hampered the team, but this was probably Floyd’s finest year. A highlight of this season was a 70 yard touchdown run with an intercepted pass in a 13-0 victory over Waynesburg. For his efforts he was named to the All-Tri-State Class B Team.
In the winter he turned his attention to the basketball court and was outstanding. He captained the basketball team in 1922, 1923, and 1924. He was named All-Tri-State Team in 1923 and 1924. He was named the mythical captain of the 1924 Tri-State Team. He was the leading scorer in the Tri-State Area during the 1924 season.
Huck also excelled in baseball for Thiel and played third base. He was considered an excellent batter and an outstanding fielder.
After graduation, he returned to Thiel as a member of the coaching staff. He assisted Tommy Holleran in football. He served as head basketball coach during the 1925-1926 season.
