Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.) captured his first National Title with a record breaking performance in the men's 400-meter dash, at Saturday's Division III National Championship finals.
In his final race as a Thiel College track and field athlete, the Erie, Pa. native ran a Thiel College and Georgie Finnie Stadium record, 46.79, to become the National Champion in the men's 400. This is the second time in his last three races that Eaton has broken the Tomcat 400-meter mark.
The six-time all-America performer has been the picture of persistance this season, fighting through a series of nagging injuries that have hindered him all year.
And now, after four years, the future Thiel College hall-of-famer joins the great few who can stake their claim as the best in the country.
